Matt’s Shutters & More
Context:
Matt's Shutters is a small, family-business in the DFW Metroplex focused on handcrafted window treatments since 1989.
Concept:
The idea driving this logomark is to incorporate the letter M, as well as the business focus on windows and shutters. To do this I adapted the M to look like a house by separating the left leg from the top hip of the M. This forces perspective of the slope of the roof and the window.
Since controlling light is the function of shutters, I kept the colors monochrome to reinforce luxury and to emphasis the form and function over the abstraction of light and color.
I decided on Proxima Nova for the type to give the brand a high-end cleanliness and symmetry, but to not too high luxury, as we still want to remind people that these pieces are hand-made.
Other ideas we ran through exploring design objectives, along with branding on clothing.
